CUDP

The Clean Upper Dharamsala Project (CUDP) is the branch of the Tibetan Settlement Office, that operates the solid waste management scheme for Upper Dharamsala. CUDP initiatives include a recycling programme with a Paper-Recycling Workshop, a Environmental Education and Awareness Programme, as well as the Green Shop which sells eco friendly products. A total of 40 people are now employed under the CUPD.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CUDP
• To ensure a healthy and clean environment in Upper Dharamsala.
• To promote sustainable economic, social & ecological development.
• To increase environmental awareness in the community.
• To establish segregation of recyclable and non-recyclable wastes at household, business and institutional levels.
• To maximize the level of waste recycling.
• To involve all stakeholders in project planning and implementation and to remain transparent.
• To continuously develop as an organization and to keep improving the waste management system for Upper Dharamsala.
• To serve as a model for other Tibetan settlements and interested communities.
